Suzanne Ruth Iversen, 67, passed away on March 2, 2015, at the Judson Care Center in Cincinnati, Ohio. She was born January 6, 1948, in Syracuse, New York to Stedman and Margaret Bird.
Suzanne grew up in Syracuse, New York. She graduated from Central Technical High School in 1965. After high school, she attended Katharine Gibbs School in Boston, Massachusetts where she received a secretarial certificate. Sue’s career included more than 10 years working at the University of Cincinnati, first as a secretary in the office of Housing and Food Services and then in the One Stop Center where she helped students resolve registration, financial, and other issues. Throughout her career she treated each person with respect and caring insight making a difference in many lives.
Suzanne married Joseph Iverson on November 17, 1990. They were happily married for 24 years. Suzanne enjoyed the company of a large circle of devoted friends. She enjoyed counted cross-stitch, crocheting, and jewelry making. Sue also enjoyed watching baseball with Joe.
Suzanne is survived by her spouse, Joseph Iverson, of Cincinnati, Ohio. Her son, Christopher (Marla) Blum of Milan, Indiana; her son, Jeffery Blum of Irvine, California; her son, Peter (Ann) Blum of Soquel, California; her son, Doug Blum of Toledo, Ohio; her brother, James (Mary) Bird of Aptos, California; her grandchildren, Jared, Brandon, Corwin, Carly, Mason, Nicholas, and Spencer and her great-grandson Oliver. Suzanne is also survived by nieces, nephews, and other relatives, and her beloved dog, Roxy.
Suzanne was preceded in death by her parents, Stedman and Margaret Bird.
Her memorial service will be held at Shiloh United Methodist Church, 5261 Foley Road, Cincinnati, Ohio, 45238 on Thursday, March 5 from 4:30-6:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society in Sue’s memory. Memorial donations may also be made to the Trader-Willi Syndrome Association, 8588 Potter Park Drive, Suite 500, Sarasota, Florida 34238.
