Michael Staudt January 1, 1945 - October 2, 2019

Michael A. Staudt, 74, of Ross passed away at Mercy Fairfield on October 2, 2019

surrounded by his children and friends. Born in Jacksonville, Florida on January 1, 1945,

he attended North College Hill High School, but graduated from Mount Healthy High School

in 1963 lettering in 4 sports. Mike graduated from Miami University in 1967 with

a BA in history. While at Miami he played football for Bo Schembechler and

pledged SAE Fraternity where he developed lifelong friendships. Upon graduation he started teaching at

Fairfield High School while getting his Masters in Math Education from Miami.  He went

on to get a 2nd Masters in Administration from the University of Denver.

Mike taught math for 30 years at FHS where he also coached football and

put announcements on the PA for the faux hockey team he “coached.”  He was

also president of the teacher’s union, FCTA.  Mike loved the outdoors; he rafted the

Colorado, Gauley, and New Rivers, completed two different Outward Bound survival experiences,

and hiked part of the Appalachian Trail, including climbing Mount Katahdin.  When Mike wasn’t

being adventurous, he was planting huge gardens or building things, even building his own

passive-solar house.

Mike’s greatest accomplishments were his children: Rachel Staudt Gould of Ross, Nathan Staudt of

Fairfield, and his granddaughter Emelia (Millie) Staudt. Mike was preceded in death by his

parents, Beverly Smith Stewart Staudt, Joseph Staudt, and Charles Stewart.

He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and thousands of former students.

His unconventional and quirky life perspective will live on in their memories.
