HAFELE

Wilfred G, age 93, of Ft. Thomas, KY, passed away on March 8 at his Ft. Myers, FL residence.  Will is a decorated U.S. Navy WWII hero, serving his Country on a mine sweeper from Boston Harbor to Iwo Jima to Okinawa to Japan.  He spent most of his career after the War as owner of Will Hafele Distributing, a beer distribution company which served the Northern Kentucky area.  He was a dedicated Reds fan, and could be found with his transistor radio listening to most every Reds game throughout his life.  He was best known, however, for bringing a smile to everyone’s face with his daily jokes. Will was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 58 years, Shirley Ruschman Hafele, brothers Leroy Hafele and George Hafele, sister LaVerne Fassler, and grandchild Aaron Hafele. He is survived by his sisters, Joyce Gibson and Charlotte Wiechman, and by his 4 children:  Diane Sticklen-Jordan (Mark Jordan) of Edgewood, KY; Dale Hafele (Linda Hils Hafele) of Ft. Myers, FL; Deena Barr (Innes Mather) of Louisville, KY; and Carl Hafele (Marianne Hafele) of Louisville, KY; 16 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. Services will take place on Friday, March 17, at St. Thomas Church in Ft. Thomas, KY. Visitation will begin at 10:00 am, with a Memorial Mass at 10:30, followed by burial at St. Stephen Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to the St. Thomas Education Fund, 428 S. Ft. Thomas Avenue, Ft.
