We only met Greg a few times over the years as families get bigger and busier it is difficult to see everyone.
Our condolences go out to the family as we know the loss is hard to bear. He will be missed but held in your hearts and memories.

February 6, 2020 at 5:07 pmI worked with Greg at Amazon and we would always discuss our gardening. He was amazed at my ghost peppers I grew and made hot sauce with. He was a very hard worker and always had a smile. He will surely be missed. I am so sorry for your loss. Prayers for the family.

March 16, 2025 at 9:39 pmTo “Big Daddy’s Family,” I’m so sorry to hear of the loss of your loved one. I looked up Greg because I thought it was time to tell him thank you for a suggestion he made to me 46 years ago that changed the course of my life. So I will tell you all the little story that happened to me when Greg found out I wanted to travel to Jamaica by myself. In 1979, Greg was one of my co-workers on the Mississippi Queen. I was 24, single and wanted a life of travel and adventure after college. Working on the boat and traveling the Mississippi River for a year was the start of all that. I was talking about my upcoming 2 weeks off and where to go in Jamaica when Big Daddy (yes, we called him that back then too) heard I was going alone, he said this exact thing to me. “Let me tell you what to do, because you have to be careful. Go to Negril to the Tigress Cottages and Cafe and find Papa Lawrence who owns the place with his family. Tell him you know me, and you’ll be fine because he has a gated compound and nobody gets in there unless it’s ok with him.” The long story short is that I did exactly what Greg told me to do and he sent me straight to the man who would later become my husband. He was staying in the cottage next to mine and we only had two days together. But I went home and told my mother that I met the man I was going to marry. That was 46 years ago. We are parents of 2 great kids and grandparents to 3 amazing little people. All because Greg sent me to Negril. I can’t tell you how dear all the memories are to me and of course, I’ve never forgotten the role Greg played in the serendipity of my life.
