SMITH
Carl R, 90 of Florence passed away Nov 23 at the Anderson Nursing Home. Carl served our country in the Army during WWII. He was a lifelong member of the Newport Church of God where he also taught Sunday school. He retired from the Ford Transmission plant of Fairfax and Batavia plant after 30 years. He is preceded in death by his wife Sophia A. Smith. Survived by his sons, Wayne Isaac (Joyce), Winston Benjamin (Ginny), Wesley Timothy (Georgia) and Wendell David (Becky) Smith, daughters Wanda Lee Thompson, Willenia Mae Smith and Wancella Rose (Tony) Bowling, 21 grandchildren and 39 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held Tues, Nov 27 from 5-8pm at Fares J. Radel Funeral Home, Newport. Services will be Wed, Nov 28 at 10am at the Newport Church of God on Keturah Street. Burial at Floral Hills Cemetery.
