Charles E. Davis III October 20, 1938 - July 12, 2019

Charles E. Davis III “Charlie”, 80 of Williamsburg passed away on July 12, 2019. He was born on October 20, 1938 in Clinchfield, GA to the late Charles E. Davis, Jr. & Blanche Davis. Charlie attended Georgia Tech played football until an injury prevented him from doing so; he also sang with a trio as a young man. He graduated as an Electrical Engineer and was employed by Procter & Gamble and retired from there.  At retirement, he held the position of Associate Director. Charlie taught a Bible Study for singles in Cincinnati many years ago. He proudly served In the United States Army as a First Lieutenant. Charlie was a member American Legion Post 288 and the NRA. He was an avid hunter, especially deer even processing the meat himself. Charlie loved the outdoors, adventure, fishing, shooting, reloading his own bullets, gardening, learning new things, boating, riding and showing Paso Fino horses; , his most prized being El Presidente after which his horse business was named, cooking, dogs, and he also had a pilot’s license. He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Walter Davis. Charlie is survived by his wife, Sher Davis; daughter, Lisa Starks; sons, Chuck Davis and Anthony Ewald; Siblings:  Kathryn Fisher, Marcia Mathis and Dan Davis all of Georgia; grandchildren:  Helena Starks, Grace Davis, Melissa Ewald, Morgan Ewald, Madison Ewald and Will Ewald. Charlie loved being with family and sharing meals, He especially loved spending time with his grands and watching them grow into wonderful individuals. He was a creative problem solver, had a very quick wit, was a mentor to many in his family, with friends and at P&G and loved to travel.

 

Charlie’s life will be celebrated on Friday, July 26 at 10:00 at the Williamsburg American Legion Post 288, 208 E. Main Street, Williamsburg OH. 45176 Light refreshments will be served after the celebration. The family request no flowers or gifts please. In lieu of both, please consider
