DARLINGTON
Theodore L, 84, died peacefully on Sunday, January 10, 2016, in Naples, FL, after a brief hospital stay. Ted was a resident of Marco Island, FL (formerly of Cold Spring). He is preceded in death by his parents, Theodore R. and Mildred Darlington, and his step-Mother, Evelyn Darlington. Ted is survived by his wife of 62 years, Mary Lee Darlington; his four children Theodore L. Darlington Jr (Kathy), Fred Darlington (Tracy), John Darlington (Debra), and Anna Frey (Jeff); thirteen grandchildren, Trish Lewellen, Katherine Kaiser, Teddy Knox, Theodore L. Darlington III, Lauren McCarroll, Saunie Darlington, Lindsey Darlington, Kristi Darlington, Adam Darlington, Joshua Darlington, Jordan Darlington, Jessica Frey, and Sarah Frey; and six great-grandchildren, Jack Lewellen, Mary Kate Lewellen, Samantha Lewellen, Ace McCarroll, Adalynne McCarroll, and Lawson Knox. Ted was born in Cold Spring, KY. He graduated from the University of Kentucky in 1954. After graduation, he proudly served in the Untied States Air Force. In 1991 he retired from his position as Director of Data Processing for the Disabled American Veterans at it’s national headquarters in Cold Spring, KY, and he and Mary moved to Marco Island, Fl.
Ted was a member of Alpha Tau Omega fraternity, the Elks Lodge, and the Alexandria Masonic Lodge. He was very active in his local DAV chapter and served for many years on the Board of Directors for Our Lady of the Highlands. He was also an avid Kentucky Wildcat fan. Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 16, 2016, from 10:00 to 11:30 am, followed by services at 11:30am at the Fares J. Radel Funeral Home, 822 York St, Newport, KY. Burial to follow at Independence Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donation may be made to a charity of your choice.
