David Frederick Hansbauer May 1, 1955 - February 20, 2024

On February 20, 2024, David Frederick Hansbauer passed away at 8:00 pm with his loving wife Linda, at his side, holding his hand. He was just 68 years old.

For anyone blessed to have known Dave or called him a friend, he was regarded as the nicest, kindest man they had ever met. Dave always offered a genuine smile and a kind word, but even more so, he never spoke an unkind word of anyone. His friendly and cheerful demeanor was truly one of a kind, as was he.

Born on May 1, 1955, to the late Kathleen J. and Harry J. Hansbauer, Dave was a lifelong resident of Cincinnati, Ohio.

Dave and Linda were married on May 14, 1983. As a husband of over forty years, Dave was fun loving, very giving, and always there for Linda. His calming and chill personality offset Linda always being on the go. They were best friends and partners. Together, they raised their daughter Heather (Frank) Palmisano. Dave was also a dear stepfather to Joseph (Caroline) Kelley and Teresa Kelley, as well as a proud grandfather to Teresa’s children Grace (Connor) Fields, Houston Russell, and Quinton Forbeck.

He was a devoted father to Heather, and she was the light of his life. Heather has many memories of the time they spent together, having fun playing pool in the basement, and having little chats about life all the time, which shows what a close and special bond they shared. As a father, his kindness carried over in teaching Heather how to not only attract good people into her life, but also to be that quality person who cares for their loved ones. He took care of his daughter for forty years and she took care of her dad in his final days when he needed her the most. She will carry “The Lessons of Dave” with her for a lifetime.

Dave was a 1976 graduate of Cincinnati Technical College having earned a degree in Mechanical Design Science. He operated his own business, Hansbauer Decorating, for many years before retiring in December 2022. During those years, he developed many long-lasting client relationships with his decorators, providing residential and commercial painting services.

Not ready to completely slowdown in retirement, Dave began delivering prescriptions and medical equipment for Tri-State Compounding Pharmacy & Kunkel Medical in February 2023. He absolutely loved it. After years of working primarily by himself each day in his business, it didn’t take long for Dave to become fast friends and a favorite with both his new customers and co-workers. Customers were always calling the store asking about this great new guy. He couldn’t wait to get to work and would often go in early just to talk with everyone before the day got started. He loved chatting about Heather with them, bragging on Linda’s great cooking and teasing and joking with everyone. A co-worker wrote “Heaven has gained a super cool cat” and described Dave as an “amazing soul”.

In his spare time, Dave loved listening to music, especially classic rock, bird watching in his backyard, and he was an avid golfer. He enjoyed playing in the same Tuesday night golf league for over fifty years. Dave appreciated Sundays and wanted them to be a day of calm and rest. It meant so much to him that he didn’t want to disturb others on Sundays either. As a man of faith, he began his mornings with a prayer, thanking God for giving him another day.

Dave was a beloved brother. He was preceded in death by his brothers Robert, William, and Thomas Hansbauer and he will be greatly missed by his sisters Julie Hansbauer, Peggy (Dave) Robinson, Mary Beth (Mark) Kelly, brother Joe (Alma) Hansbauer and sister-in-law Su Hansbauer.

He also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews, family, friends and other loved ones. He especially cherished the friendships with a group of buddies that he had remained close with since high school.

David F. Hansbauer has left us much too soon, but we are comforted knowing that we will be reunited in Heaven one day. His memory and kindness will remain in our hearts forever.
