Donald R. Raines

Donald R. Raines July 8, 1953 - May 13, 2026

Donnie was a loving father, son, brother, grandpa, and great-grandpa. When he walked through the gates of Heaven on May 13, 2026, he was welcomed with open arms—and
paws—by his parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and his beloved Labrador Retriever, Cinder.

Born on July 8, 1953, Donnie was the son of the late Donald “Bud” Raines and Jeanne Mason Raines. He is survived by his children, Bill, Scott, and Aaron; his grandson, Tanner; his granddaughters, Lilly, Kylee, Olivia, Mallory, and Madelynn; and his great-grandsons, Colton and Bronson. He is also survived by his brother, Jerry; his sisters, Peggy,Tammy, Amy, and Sally; his nephews, D.J., Nick, and Sam; and his nieces, Jessica, Amber, and Angelica. In addition, he leaves behind his daughters-in-law, Cheryl, Tammie, and Houston; his sister-in-law, Debbie; and his brothers-in-law, Dennis, Charlie, and Randy, along with many others who were proud to call him uncle, cousin, neighbor, and friend.

Donnie spent 28 years doing what he loved as a motorcycle mechanic with Yamaha, followed by 13 years as a much-loved janitor at Erpenbeck Elementary School in Florence, Kentucky.

His life was filled with laughter, kindness, humility, and love. Donnie touched countless lives simply by being himself—a genuine, good man in every sense.
Though he will be deeply missed, his love and memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance and celebration of his life on June 28, 2026, at the Drees Pavilion, Covington, Kentucky, beginning at noon

Don or monster (what he was known as, here at school) was a great man! He would sneak around and jump out and hide from the kids after school, even me too! He had the biggest heart! He would always keep up with my kids, even after they left elementary school. He was a great friend! I’m so sorry for your loss! I’m sending my prayers to you and your family.

Donnie was a much-loved member of the EES family! I enjoyed chatting with him as he came around for his afternoon rounds. He was loved by the EES teacher kids too. My daughters remember him fondly. My condolences to all who loved him.
