Donna L. Kopp August 12, 1941 - April 6, 2020

Donna L. (nee. Thiery) Kopp

Donna passed away peacefully during the early morning of April 6, 2020. She was born August 12, 1941 and led a beautiful, fulfilling life. A member of St. Mary of the Assumption in Alexandria where she was an active parishioner for many years. Donna enjoyed life to its fullest, but most of all the time with her family and friends. If you needed a helping hand, she was there. Everyone who knew her was truly blessed with her love and support. We know her light will continue to shine. Donna, also known as the “cake lady” made hundreds of cakes over the years for weddings, birthdays, or whatever special occasion someone needed her delicious cake for. That is something she truly enjoyed. She was a devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother and friend. She was an exceptionally strong woman, being a nine year survivor of pancreatic cancer.  Donna is survived by her loving husband, William, just days shy of celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary. She was a dedicated mother to her 3 children and their spouses; Son, Bill (Barb) Kopp, Daughter, Jill (Eric) O’Bryan and Daughter, Missy (Hampton) Young. She treasured all of her grandchildren: Erica, Billy, Tyler, Katie, Kristina, Jenna, Jessica, Mackenzie; step-grandchildren: Joey, Chris, Robbie and Brittany.  Her pride and joy were her 16 great grandchildren. Donna also leaves behind her brothers, Harold (Buck) Thiery, Larry Thiery and sister, Diana Chenot. She was preceded in death by her parents Harold and Dorothy (nee. Shields) Thiery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network at pancan.org/donate, or 1500 Rosecrans Ave., Suite 200, Manhattan Beach, CA 90266. Fares J. Radel Funeral Home is serving the family. We will announce the details for a Funeral Mass and Celebration of her Life once the Pandemic restrictions are raised.

Donna was a really special person. Her family meant the world to her. I was lucky enough to know her family, and get to celebrate important days with them. She also made such unique and delicious cakes for my kids when they were young.Wally and I will miss her great spirit.
