Douglas “Doug” Hofmann March 6, 1964 - November 14, 2018

Douglas Joseph Hofmann, age 54 of Southgate, KY, died Wednesday November 14, 2018 at the University of Michigan Hospital. Doug was born on March 6,1964 in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan to Richard and Joanne Hofmann. He grew up in Kawkawlin, Michigan and after graduating high school he worked as a salesman for Bernea foods, then obtained his CDL license and worked as an over the road truck driver for Best Way Systems of Bay City. In 1998 he was transferred to Florence, Kentucky to work as a manager for Best Way. He then met his wife Mary Ann (Burkart Dreyer) and they were married in June 2004. He began working for Fed-Ex Freight in July 2004 first as an over the road driver then as a city driver until his death.

Doug was a passionate gamer. He enjoyed playing Dungeons and Dragons and Magic the Gathering with his family and friends. He also loved his computer games and spent many hours killing dragons or flying a spaceship. He was a skilled craftsman and built a gazebo in his back yard and he was a master at making mouthwatering soups. He enjoyed weekend getaways to the Great Smoky Mountains with his wife and playing with his many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and his step granddaughter Inara.

Doug had a dry sense of humor and a quick wit and was good at making people laugh. Doug was preceded in death by his mother Joanne and his father Richard. He is survived by his wife Mary Ann, four step children, Rob Dreyer (Christi Self), Jessica Abhat (Taha), Celes Dreyer (Callie Wright), Emily Jerry (Jon-Michael) and two step grandchildren, Inara and Leo Abhat. He is also survived by his nine siblings, Phyllis Sabourin, Steve Hofmann (Beth), John Hofmann (Jean), Marcy Woodrow, Brian Hofmann (Jackie), Janet Twigg (George), Patrick Hofmann (Darcy), Mary Beth Hofmann, Kevin Hofmann (Lisa) and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

There will be a celebration of Doug’s life on Saturday March 9th, 2019 at Fares J. Radel Funeral Home 5950 Kellogg Ave., Cincinnati, Ohio from 11 to 3.
