Frances L. Koher July 21, 1930 - March 20, 2018

Frances L. Koher , 87 of Ft. Thomas passed away March 20 at Mt. Washington Care Center. Born Frances Lee Davis on July 21, 1930 in Jackson, OH to Carl and Florence Davis. She grew up with one brother, George Lewis Davis. Her family moved to Dayton, KY in her younger years where her father worked on the railroad. She had four children with Ernest Hund, Kenneth Michael Hund, Brooksie Lee Penn, Melody Lynn Snow and John Davis Hund. She had four grandchildren, Carissa Ann (Dave) Hund-Bunten, Michael Ernest Hund, John David Penn and Katherine Frances Penn. She also had three great-grandchildren, Cora, Michael and Owen Bunten and niece Diana Davis Brierly and nephew Daryl Davis. She is preceded in death by her parents, her brother, daughter Brooksie, son John, grandson Michael, nephew Daryl and three husbands, the last being Robert T. Koher. She was a loving mother and doting grandmother. Her spirit or kindness and caring was obvious to all who met her. She worked various jobs as a housewife and mother, owner/operator of a millinery store, Pogue’s Revlon counter and in her final working years at various day-care centers which brought her and the children she cared for much joy. She was an active member of 1st Christian Church in Covington and Eastern Star until her health no longer allowed. There she enjoyed volunteering with Interfaith Hospitality Network, dinners to feed the hungry, the woman’s prayer group and more. Her strong faith endured to the end. After her daughter Brooksie died under Bluegrass Hospice Care, she volunteered there with friends she’d made through their bereavement group. She had a smile that could light up a room and always had a kind word for anyone. Fran endured much heartache and happiness in her 87 years but always smiled through it all. We all could learn by her example to enjoy life and count our blessings, not our bruises. Memorial donations are requested to the 1st Christian Church in Covington or to Hospice of SW Ohio. A memorial visitation will be held Friday, March 23 from 4pm until time of service at 5:30pm at Fares J. Radel Funeral Home, Newport.

My deepest sympathies and heartfelt condolences for Frances family and friends. Losing someone we love is truly heartbreaking. I want to take a moment and share something that has given me much personal comfort and hope. It is the scriptural promise at Daniel 12:2 “And many of those asleep in the dust of the earth will wake up, some to everlasting life.” Losing a loved one in death is not the end, we have a beautiful hope just ahead. How we long to see them again and be reunited forever.
