Gary L. Thompson March 21, 1956 - January 31, 2024

Gary Thompson, age 67, of Amelia, Ohio, passed away on Wednesday, January 31, 2024. He was born on March 21, 1956, in Erie, Pennsylvania, to Harley and Marjorie Thompson. Gary attended North East High School and graduated in 1974. He married Kay Lucas Reis on June 24, 1989. Gary worked at the Cincinnati Veteran’s Association for many years, before retiring. He was a proud member of the United States Air Force. Gary is survived by his wife of 34 years, Kay; sons Gary (Crystal) Thompson and Eric Thompson; mother Marjorie Thompson; sister Cindy (Rex) Fisher; brothers Jeffrey (Pamela) Thompson and Marshall (Linda) Thompson; grandchildren Tyler, Chloe, and Aidan; sister-in-law Diane (Reginald) Snow; brother-in-law Daniel Lucas; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his father and sister-in-law, Louise Lucas. Services will be held at One Way Church, 4650 OH-132, Batavia, OH 45103 on Saturday, February 24, 2024, at 2pm. A second service will be held at East Lake Road Alliance Church, 4500 East Lake Road, Erie, PA 16511 on Saturday, March 2, 2024, at 2pm. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 6704, Hagerstown, MD 21741 or the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, P.O. Box 22324, New York, NY 10087.

    Worked with Gary for years at Cincinnati VA Medical Center. Always a friendly guy that could be counted on to help out with Logistical Issues. Always had a good word to say. Rest in Peace my old friend.
