Greg Donald Anderson of New Richmond, OH, died suddenly January 16 with his family surrounding him. He was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota on November 16,1956.
He was the beloved husband of Tari Anderson (nee Smith), loving father of Samuel Greg Anderson, Paige Caroline Anderson, and Grant Donald Anderson. He was the favorite son of the late Don and Gail Anderson of Worthington, OH. He is survived by his sisters Jill Anderson of Boulder, CO, and Michele Anderson Ginter of Lewis Center, OH as well as beloved nieces: Marissa Anderson Forderer, Elisabeth Wardlow, Ceci Clark, Cozy Clark, Emily Ginter, Megan Ginter and Anna Ginter.
He received his undergraduate and master’s degrees in civil engineering at the Ohio State University. He went on to earn his MD from University of Cincinnati. His fellowship training in Gastroenterology was at the Cleveland Clinic.
Greg was a physician at Trihealth Digestive Institute. He was dedicated to caring for his patients in the tri-state area for the past 22 years. He was the Principal Investigator of many IBS, constipation, and diverticulitis studies using investigational medications that have been approved by the FDA. He participated in studies using Miralax, linaclotide (Linzess), and Asacol. He was a sub-investigator for several colon cleansing studies. These medications (Prepopik and Visicol) were approved by the FDA as well. He read his medical journals every night, and spent evenings calling patients that he didn’t have time to talk to through his busy day.
Greg was proud of his Minnesota roots. He thought Minnesotans are good, kind people.
He enjoyed travel, nights out with friends, living on a farm. He loved the Ohio State Buckeyes and always went to the skull sessions before the games. He loved the cottage at Indian Lake, getting the couch first for a nap, and watching the mandatory Three Stooges and Laurel and Hardy videos.
He was an active member of Mount Washington Presbyterian Church. He found faith and inspiration there to live a wonderful life and guide his family.
Above all, he was an involved father. He never missed his children’s many performances or athletic events. He was extremely proud of his children, and was glad to tell people about them. He passed his values on to his children; his passion for music, academics, athletics, and excellence. Whenever he said goodbye to anyone in the family, the last words to leave everyone’s mouths were always: “I love you” and “I love you too.”
