WYCOFF

Jim Wycoff died Sunday, August 11, at Mercy Anderson Hospital due to a clot in the small intestine.  He was born in Zanesville, Ohio, the home of the Y-Bridge and Tom’s Ice Cream Bowl.  After graduating from Z.H.S. in 1967, Jim was directed by OSU’s coach Woodie Hayes to head southeast to Athens, Ohio and to, what came to be, his “beloved “Ohio University.   He graduated in 1971 with a degree in economics and math. He was senior class president, varsity football manager, and Phi Kappa Sigma, “the Skulls”, rush chairman.  Upon graduation, He worked for P. & G. in sales and continued that career path with the Anchor Hocking Corporation. In 1981, Jim made a daring career move from sales to finance with E.F.Hutton.  Through the years, Jim changed firms, but remained steady on his career path.  In 1995 he opened the first Raymond James Financial Services Office in Cincinnati.  He was proud to be an independent owner and to solely represent Raymond James.  He hosted “The Jim Wycoff Money Hour” on 55KRC for 20 years.  Jim was active in the Cincinnati and OU communities, serving on many advisory boards too numerous to list.  Jim was passionate about connecting with friends and Ohio University.  He, along with fellow alum, Tom Starr, were instrumental in the creation and development of the Schey Sales Centre at OU and the Masters of Economics program.  Jim received the Ohio University Distinguished Service Award in 1999, the Ohio University College of Arts and Sciences 2012 Distinguished Alumni Award, and in 2013 the Alumnus of the Year Award will be given to Jim posthumously. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Suzi, two canine “buddies”, his sister, Susie, and nieces and nephews. Jim’s life will be celebrated Saturday, August 24 at the Montgomery Inn Boathouse from 2:00-5:00.  Friends are asked to share fond memories which will be compiled into a “Wacbook”.  Send writings to www.ohio.edu/give.
