IRELAND
John C. Ireland, age 58, passed away peacefully on February 6, 2016 in Cincinnati after a recent diagnosis with aggressive lung cancer. He was born April 19, 1957 to the late Richard Ireland and Diana (Lehmann) Ireland of Delphos, OH. He was a 1975 graduate of Lima Central Catholic High School. John married Victoria Ireland (Vido) on August 2, 1986. After obtaining his Ph.D. in biochemistry from the University of Cincinnati in 1984, John worked as a research chemist for the US EPA, retiring in June 2015. John enjoyed a wide variety of interests, spanning the intellectual with his love of physics and computers, the creative with his passion for keyboards and synthesizers, and the mechanical with his impressive DIY ability to wire, plumb and tinker with anything he set his mind to. John will be greatly missed by his wife, Vicki; mother, Diana; sisters, Jane Ireland and Patricia Carmichael; and nephews and nieces, in-laws, outlaws and cousins. Family, friends, and others whose lives John touched are invited to celebrate his life on Friday, February 12 from 4:00pm to 7:30pm, farewell toasts will begin at 6:00 pm at Fares J. Radel Funeral Home, 5950 Kellogg Ave. Cinti, OH 45230. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or Hospice of Cincinnati.
