Leroy Dennis Whitehead April 5, 1938 - September 23, 2023

Leroy Whitehead passed away peacefully on September 23rd, 2023  at age 85.  He was surrounded by loved ones at the time of his death.  He is survived by his beloved wife Ruth Whitehead, devoted father of Machelle Spegal and Bryan Whitehead (Terri), and devoted stepfather to Dave (Lori), Tom (Barb) Wolfzorn.  Lee was a cherished grandfather to Michael, Joshua, Christopher, Cassondra, Alex, Kelsey and Andrew.  He was also a devoted great grandfather to 10.  He is preceded in death by his parents Jim and Leona Whitehead, his 5 brothers  Jim, Albert, Mel, Jack and Tom, and 2 sisters  Elinor (Sis) and Joyce.  He is also preceded in death by his daughter-in-law Mindy and his step daughter Sherry.

Lee worked at General Electric  in the photography department for 40 years.  He enjoyed photography, woodworking, candy-making and crafts.  Ruth and Lee enjoyed many years of traveling and spending time with their families.

There will be a celebration of life on Monday, October 16th from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Fares J. Radel funeral home. 822 York Street, Newport Kentucky. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Kindervelt of Childrens Hospital. (Kindervelt.org)

    Lee and Ruth always treated me and others like family. He was the joker and there was never a dull moment when he was around.
    You don’t see many with that special love Lee and Ruth shared. I could see it in their eyes as they would look at each other.
    I’m sorry that every time I would see you, most recent at the fair, I’d say we need to get together soon.
    Time tends to get away from us and were so wrapped up in things. Please forgive me for not trying harder to get together.
    My dear friend you will be missed.
    I promise this time we need to get together soon.
