Loraine Wills Pace June 17, 1935 - March 3, 2024

Loraine Wills Pace, 88, of Newport, KY formerly of Debary, Florida and Dover, Ohio passed away on March 3, 2024, surrounded by family.  She was born on June 17, 1935, in Newcomerstown, Ohio to parents William and Berchel Wills.   She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of sixty-eight years, Vincent R Pace.

Loraine was a graduate of St. Joseph High School, Dover, Ohio.  She earned her nursing degree at Aultman Hospital School of Nursing and her undergraduate degree at Walsh College, both located in Canton, Ohio. Loraine loved being a nurse; she was inspired to enroll in nursing school while visiting her mother-in-law at the Cleveland Clinic. Her mother-in-law underwent kidney dialysis, one of the first through a program then at the Clinic. Loraine was inspired by the professionalism and care shown by the nursing team.

Loraine served as a City of Dover Councilwoman for many years. She ran for mayor before women were as involved in political office. She felt privileged to represent her constituents. Serving her community meant a great deal; a value she passed down to her children.

During retirement, Loraine enjoyed spending time golfing and training her dogs.  She earned numerous awards with her prized corgi, Princess, achieving the master agility level.  Loraine accomplished anything she set her mind to do.  She was an amazing cook, painter, seamstress and knitter. Gardening was also a hobby of hers. Her family benefited from those skills.

Loraine is survived by her three children Diana Willen of Newport, Kentucky, Deborah (Robert) Violet of Bismarck, North Dakota, and Vincent (Connie) Pace, II of Lenoir City, Tennessee, six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Loraine was preceded in death by her adored granddaughter Sara Willen-Holmstrom, as well as her two sisters.

Loraine will be deeply missed. The immediate family will honor her life privately. Memorial contributions may be sent to St Joseph Catholic Church in Dover, Ohio.
