Melissa Lahke Abshire October 20, 1948 - November 26, 2023

Melissa Lahke Abshire, age 75, beloved wife of Stephen L. Abshire, passed away at her home on Sunday, November 26, 2023. Missy was born on October 20, 1948, in Cincinnati, Ohio to William K. Lahke and Patricia Sayles Lahke. Missy grew up in Terrace Park, Ohio and graduated from Mariemont High School in 1966. While living in Boca Raton, Florida, Missy met her future husband, Stephen L. Abshire. Missy and Steve married in Terrace Park, Ohio on September 17, 1983.  In 1999, soon after returning to Cincinnati, Missy and Steve started attending Crossroads Church. Missy’s love for Crossroads led her to become the volunteer leader for the Information Center, a position she held for eighteen years. During that time, Missy extended her role by joining the Crossroads staff for eleven years until retirement. Missy was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband, Stephen L. Abshire, sister Cynthia L. Leksan (Thomas), brother W. Duncan Lahke (Carol), nephews John D. Leksan and William D. Lahke and niece Mia K. Hinson (Benjamin). Missy will be remembered with a Memorial Service at Crossroads Church, Oakley on Saturday, January 6, 2024, beginning with a gathering at 11:15, the Celebration of Life Service at noon, followed by a reception. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Cincinnati (4360 Cooper Rd, Blue Ash, OH 45242,) or Crossroads Church Oakley (crossroads.net/Oakley) or SPCA Cincinnati (spcacincinnati.org).

    Joe and I enjoyed being with Steve and Missy at the Bare’s home. Missy was such a pleasant, warm and giving person. I know that she is at peace now. Love, Berdie
