Robert Jean Schumacher August 7, 1929 - January 16, 2021

Robert Jean Schumacher, August 7, 1929 to January, 16, 2021, died peacefully in the very early morning, while in the care of Hospice of Cincinnati. Bob was an active man, well into his eighties, going to Frisch’s for an early breakfast, searching curb-side for odd bits of wood that he would store in his outbuilding, and looking for bargains in various Salvation Army’s and what he referred to as “freestores.” In fact, it was in a local thrift store that he met Su Ready, who would become his third wife. Together they enjoyed breakfasts at Frisch’s, watching football, and travelling, taking road trips to Cape Cod, the Florida panhandle, New Mexico, and Utah.
Bob was a man of faith. He survived his first wife’s death, Helen Ann nee Andrews, after she died from heart problems. Bob’s second wife, nee Jean Lee Hill, died from cancer, after forty-two years of marriage. Bob was never shy about sharing stories about Helen Ann or Jean.
Bob is survived by his three daughters: Linda Davis (Geoff), Karen Hoffman (Mike), and Jenny Tackett (David), step-daughter Kate Welsh (Ted), and brother in law, David Ready. Grandchildren Andrew, Julie, Michelle, Carlos, Tim, Chris, Camille, Mona, and Owen, as well as many great-grandchildren.
A memorial service is set to occur in the Spring or Summer when we can all meet safely again. Internment will be in the National Cemetery, in Dayton, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to Hospice of Cincinnati, SAAP: Stray Animal Adoption Program Newport, KY,  or the next time you are in the drive thru at Frisch’s, consider paying for the order of the folks behind you in their car. Bob loved that.
