STANFIELD
Romona Mae Shields, 83 went to be with her Lord Nov 6, 2013 at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Ft. Thomas, Ky. Born July 1, 1930, Romona was a lifelong resident of Newport, Ky. After gaining her Licensed Practical Nurse degree, she worked many years as a private duty nurse providing in-home care to many prominent residents in the greater Cincinnati area. Following retirement, she worked for 12 years at Good Shepherd Convent in Ft. Thomas, Ky. Though diminutive in physical stature (family lovingly called her Tiny), she was large in spirit, faith and devotion to her Lord and her church, Holy Spirit Parish. She truly walked, talked and defended her faith. Romona was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Carl Stanfield and all nine brothers and sisters. She is survived by nieces and nephews,as well as many friends. Funeral Mass will be observed Thurs, Nov 21st at Holy Spirit Parish, 825 Washington Ave., Newport, Ky. Visitation will be at 9:30 am with Mass beginning at 10:00am. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, 25 Alexandria Pike, Southgate, Ky. Father Bill Cleves will be officiating. Fares J. Radel Funeral Home, Newport is handling all arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Spirit Parish, the National Diabetes Foundation or the charity of your choice.
