Hi Laura, I am so sorry to hear about your Dads passing, I came into the store today and Michelle told me.

I worked with your Dad for over 30 years and back when we were younger your Dad and I would work the same grocery aisle together, I would play little jokes on him hide his coke, move his cutter around, poke a hole in some flour then toss it to him, put a dead lobster in a box, then he would chase me around with it.

When I was a department head in dairy and frozen foods I would always asked for Tommy to be scheduled in my departments he made work fun, and always made our department look good and we were proud when management would walk our departments in the morning looking for problems to write on their note pads.

I sat in the lobby with Tommy, at the conclusion of my shift on January 5th my last day of work, I finally managed to make it to retirement. Tommy told me he had 5 years left, and his job wasn’t getting any easier Tommy was always on time, and he never called in sick, he came in and worked hard, and never complained and I know his poor legs hurt him so, but Tommy never complained.

I feel terrible that I did not give Tommy the final respects that he deserved from me, you don’t work with a man 30 years and not say goodbye but I will always remember his laugh when he would get going.

Laura this comes from David Smith I used to work beer and wine.
