Patricia Barbara McPeek, our beloved Coco, passed away peacefully on May 2, 2026, in Cincinnati. She was born Patricia Barbara Brown in Baltimore on May 9, 1948, and grew up in Dayton, Ohio, where she graduated from Julienne High School in 1966. Two years before, she and Doug McPeek had shared their first date; they then married five years later in 1969. Patty and Doug were together almost 62 years, married almost 57. Patty is survived by her devoted husband Doug; her three children: Bradley (Monica) and Jeffrey (Beth) McPeek, and Lindsay (Dave) Mason; five grandchildren: Poppy, Charlotte, and May McPeek, and Willa and Sam Mason; Patty’s brother Edward J. Brown, III of Crescent City, California, and sister Kathy Balogh of Warrensville, Ohio.
Patty had many interests and was a tireless volunteer, particularly on her kids’ athletic fields. Thanks to the combined efforts of Drs. Ann Weichert and Robert Cody, she also was a 40-year cancer survivor who provided counsel and comfort whenever needed. But family, Bethany Beach, Delaware, and sports were so important. Patty had a huge, understanding heart and her everyday wisdom kept everyone on the straight-and-narrow. These qualities and many others made Patty the almost-perfect wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Goodbye, our beloved Coco. May God bless you.
At the end, Patty’s understanding heart failed her, but she gave it the old college try. We thank the dedicated cardio nurses at Christ Hospital for the peace they provided to Patty in her final days.
Per Patty’s wishes, there will be no funeral, however, a Celebration of Life will take place later this summer in Cincinnati. In tribute or in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Heart Association or Susan G. Komen.
