William Emerson Sauer, age 91, passed away peacefully at his home on August 6, 2016. He was the beloved husband of Patricia Gabany Sauer for 57 years, loving father of Wendy Sauer Storms, Lisa Sauer and Kenneth Emerson Sauer. Born in Amsterdam, NY. Bill moved to Covington, KY with his wife 11 years ago after having lived in Fayetteville-Manlius, NY, Fair Haven, NJ, Bowling Green, KY, Beavercreek, OH, Dobbs Ferry, NY, Astoria, NY, Long Island, NY, Manhattan, NY, and Gloversville, NY. Bill graduated from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, NY, with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, P.E. He graduated from Gloversville High School, Class of 1942 and retired from Carrier Corporation, Syracuse, NY in 1990. In retirement Bill enjoyed tennis, traveling and spending time with his children and grandchildren. He will be deeply missed by his sisters: Vera Nelson and Gloria Laura, grandchildren: Austin, Connor, Mary Ellen and Owen, sons-in-laws: Jon Moeller and Brian Storms and daughter-in-law Clair Sauer along with a number of nieces and nephews. He is a member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church in Lakeside Park, KY. A private celebration of his life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the ministries of East Ridge United Methodist Church, 1601 Prater Road, Chattanooga, TN 37412.
